Pharmacodynamics
Azelaic acid, the active ingredient in AcneStop, is a naturally occurring straight-chain dicarboxylic acid that is non-toxic, non-teratogenic, and non-mutagenic.The therapeutic effectiveness of AcneStop in acne treatment is believed to be due to its antimicrobial action and direct impact on follicular hyperkeratosis.Clinically, it significantly reduces the density of Propionibacterium acnes colonization and decreases the fraction of free fatty acids in skin surface lipids.Azelaic acid inhibits keratinocyte proliferation, normalizes terminal differentiation disorders in acne formation, and accelerates comedolysis of tetradecan-induced comedones in rabbit ear models.At concentrations of 0.31–2.5%, azelaic acid exhibits a biocidal effect after prolonged contact (30–120 minutes) against Gram-positive and Gram-negative aerobic bacteria, anaerobic bacteria, and fungi.In vitro studies have shown no mutant strains resistant to azelaic acid in Staphylococcus epidermidis or Propionibacterium acnes.

Pharmacokinetics
After application, azelaic acid penetrates all layers of human skin, with faster absorption through affected skin compared to intact skin. 3.6% of the applied dose is systemically absorbed after a single 1g application (5g of cream).Part of the absorbed azelaic acid is excreted unchanged in urine, while the rest undergoes β-oxidation, breaking down into short-chain dicarboxylic acids (C7, C5), which are also excreted in urine.Studies on systemic tolerance of azelaic acid showed no adverse effects, even under extreme conditions (e.g., large-area application or occlusion).

Active Ingredient: 1g of cream contains 200mg of Azelaic Acid (calculated as 100% dry substance).

Inactive Ingredients: Benzoic Acid (E 210), Glyceryl Monostearate 40-55, Macrogol Stearate, Cutina CBS, Octyldodecanol, Propylene Glycol, Glycerin, Purified Water.

How to use

Apply AcneStop cream twice daily (morning and evening) to the affected areas and gently massage it into the skin. Approximately 0.5g (2.5 cm of cream) is sufficient for the entire face. Before applying the cream, cleanse the skin thoroughly with water and dry it. A gentle cosmetic cleanser may also be used.

Regular use of the cream throughout the treatment course is essential.

The duration of treatment may vary depending on individual conditions and the severity of acne.

Patients with acne typically see significant improvement after about 4 weeks. However, for optimal results, continuous use for several months is recommended. Clinical experience supports the long-term use of azelaic acid for up to 1 year.

If excessive skin irritation occurs (see Side Effects), reduce the amount of cream applied or decrease the frequency to once daily until irritation subsides. If necessary, temporarily discontinue treatment for a few days. If no visible results appear after a short treatment period, a reevaluation by a healthcare professional is recommended.
